A Brief History

This Lake Minnetonka city was founded in 1889 and lies directly west of Wayzata. Orono was named by its earliest residents after Orono, Maine; it encompasses 25 square miles of land and water and is known as “The Lakeshore City”. There are approximately 7,500 residents, 4 public beaches, 8 city parks, and several areas for lake access.
